Round Plarn Rug

For Mother's Day I wanted to do something really special for my mom. So I made her a rug using plastic bags, cut into strips and crocheted together. I alternated the colors of the bag to give it a striped look. I think it turned out very nicely! My mom loved it. The cool thing about the rug is that if it gets dirty, you can take it outside and spray if off with a water hose... all clean!

This is a pretty general pattern for a round flat:

Beg: Ch 4, sl st in 1st ch to form ring

R1: Ch 2 (counts as 1st hdc), 11 hdc in ring, join with sl st in top of ch 2 (12 hdc)

R2: Ch 2, hdc in same st, 2 hdc in each st around, join with sl st (24 hdc)

R3: Ch 2, hdc in same st, *hdc in next st, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around, join (36 hdc)

R4: Ch 2, hdc in same st, *hdc in next 2 st, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around, join (48 hdc)

R5: Ch 2, hdc in same st, *hdc in nect 3 st, 2 hdc in next st* repeat from * to * around, join (60 hdc)

Continue in this pattern (increasing about 12 times per round) until you get the size you want. If the edges starts to turn up into a bowl shape, more increases need to be added to keep it flat. If the edges start to create "waves", add less increases in the round. I made my mom's to be around 3 feet in diameter :)
